Wednesday 21st August – Windsurf ** River Orwell at Levington Marina – sunny.

Foil – 18.62 knot max , 16.95 knot ave, 5.53 knot hour, 13.55 knot mile, 29.20 km., 14.62 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Severne 1000 with a Tushingham Bolt 5.5.

This was my 3rd consecutive days windsurf foiling with two big wind days coming, gusting to over 40 knots apparently so might give them a miss! With the wind going offshore Levington Marina was my go to venue being only 6 miles from home! I decided to head over early arriving at the marina at 9.15 after dropping Mag off at the Wimpey houses in Trimley so she could have her daily week to meet up with me for lunch in the van, she also took her breakfast! It was sunny with loads of water to launch so the foil board was quickly on the beach, sail choice was a problem as the wind was up and down so I put my wet suit on to give it time to settle. Then with wind gusting to 20 mph I took a chance with my 5.5, to be honest whatever sail I rigged today would not have been right as the wind was all over the place, not only in strength but direction too:( Things started off OK as I flow out of the marina entrance and had several short runs with some nice gybes, I tried going down towards the docks but it was not windy enough so stayed on the corner. I spent over two hours sailing back and forth waiting for a gust and boy was it lumpy in the middle of the river which would have been OK if you were flying! So with the tide approaching high I decided to head in to check how Mags walk went. Andy had come down to wing, after setting up his foil board he decided not to bother and left. Mag had a lovely walk seeing carp, a kingfisher and a buzzard and had been relaxing in the van reading and dozing, we also spotted a kingfisher in the marina! After a quick shower we had lunch in the van with some top Simpsons clouds in the sky, just lovely:)
